Hi fellow fatties! It’s been a while…
I just wanted to do a quick post to give you guys an update on what’s been happening. I haven’t posted in a few months, but I’ve got a pretty good excuse. In short, I’ve moved countries!
I’m no longer a “Sydney Food Blogger” – I’ve packed my things and moved to a place that promises to have an even more exciting food scene than Sydney – SEOUL, KOREA!
Yerp, I’m here in the land of bibimbap and bulgogi and Korean Fried Chicken. And my only agenda right now is to eat my way through my new neighbourhood.
Late last year, my husband was offered a job here and we’ve both always wanted to spend a few years in Korea, our motherland, so here we are! The past few months have been packed with planning, catching up with friends and I also squeezed in a trip to Japan which I’ll share with you guys soon.
I’ve taken a leave of absence from my job, so right now I’m officially FUNemployed. I’ll probably get a part time job here eventually but for the time being, my biggest priorities are to settle in to my new home and have fun doing it!
It’s only been a few days since we’ve landed but OH MY WORD the food here has already won my heart. I’ve already had Korean/Mexican fusion tacos, American style dessert pies (which seem to be a bit of a thing here), super cheap Korean BBQ in the university district, shabu shabu, Korean meals delivered to my door… Seoul is a food-lover’s paradise.
Imagine Oxford Street in Paddington, but instead of fashion stores and boutiques, kilometres of road just lined with cafes, restaurants, bakeries, dessert bars, and more. There’s one of these in pretty much every suburb in Seoul.
But half my stomach is still in Sydney – I have a backlog of more than 10 places to blog from home so if you have no interest in Seoul food, please don’t unsubscribe just yet! The blog will be a Sydney/Seoul hybrid for at least a few more months. I considered just starting a new food blog for Seoul but then I thought…Don’t Think Just Eat is a global food philosophy. So please stay with me as I eat indiscriminately through Korea !
